Grâce aux travaux de réhabilitation, le Musée d’Art de Toulon voit ses salles d’exposition totalement rénovées (éclairage, ventilation, mobilier, multimédias…) et agrandies (plus de 500 m2 supplémentaires).
Le M.A.T a pris le parti de mettre en valeur de façon permanente une partie de ses collections d’art ancien et contemporain sous la forme de thématiques fortes et représentatives du fonds du musée : une salle d’exposition est dédiée à la peinture du paysage, allant du paysage classique de la fin XVIIIe siècle au paysage Fauve (1910) en passant par le paysage en Provence ; une autre salle est consacrée à la peinture orientaliste représentée par des artistes nationaux (Fromentin), et provençaux (Ziem, Courdouan).
L’art contemporain bénéficie aussi d’une exposition permanente sur deux salles qui présentent autant des œuvres d’artistes nationaux (César, Arman) qu’internationaux (Klein, Saint-Phalle, Sol Lewitt) ainsi que les principaux mouvements artistiques depuis les années 1960.
Enfin, deux cabinets sont spécialement consacrés l’un aux arts graphiques et aux photographies, l’autre aux objets ethnographiques. Le Cabinet de curiosités, installé dans la bibliothèque – elle aussi rénovée - conservant les fonds patrimoniaux anciens, permet ainsi de montrer une partie de la collection d’objets qui n’avaient jamais été exposés au public.

Thanks to the refurbishment work, the Toulon Art Museum has had its exhibition rooms completely renovated (lighting, ventilation, furniture, multimedia, etc.) and enlarged (more than 500 m2 additional). The M.A.T. chose to permanently showcase part of its collections of ancient and contemporary art by defining powerful and representative themes from the museum’s collection : one exhibition room is dedicated to landscape painting, ranging from the classical landscape of the late 18th century to the Fauvist landscape (1910) and including landscape in Provence ; another room is dedicated to orientalist painting represented by national (Fromentin) and Provencal (Ziem, Courdouan) artists.
Contemporary art is also featured in a permanent exhibition of its own, in two halls that present works by both national (César, Arman) and international artists (Klein, Saint-Phalle, Sol Lewitt) as well as the main artistic movements since the 1960s.
Lastly, two firms are specially dedicated to graphic arts and photography, the other to ethnographic objects. The Cabinet of Curiosities, located in the library — also renovated — houses the old heritage collections and makes it possible to show part of the collection of objects never seen by the public before.
Nell’ambito del progetto di riqualificazione, le sale espositive del Museo d’Arte di Tolone sono state completamente rinnovate (illuminazione, ventilazione, arredamento, supporti multimediali, ecc.) e ingrandite (oltre 500 m2 in più).
Il Museo d’Arte di Tolone ha voluto valorizzare in modo permanente una parte delle sue collezioni d’arte antica e contemporanea, attingendo a tematiche forti e rappresentative dei fondi del museo : una sala espositiva dedicata alla pittura di paesaggi (dal paesaggio classico della fine del XVIII secolo al paesaggio dei Fauve del 1910, passando per il paesaggio provenzale) e una sala dedicata alla pittura orientalista di artisti nazionali (Fromentin) e provenzali (Ziem, Courdouan).
All’arte contemporanea è riservata anche un’esposizione permanente con due sale che espongono le opere di artisti nazionali (César, Arman), internazionali (Klein, Saint-Phalle, Sol Lewitt) e dei principali movimenti artistici dagli anni ’60.
Vi sono poi due studi dedicati interamente alle arti grafiche, alla fotografia e agli oggetti etnografici. Lo « Studio delle curiosità », che si trova nella Biblioteca, anch’essa completamente rinnovata, conserva i fondi patrimoniali antichi ed espone una collezione di oggetti inedita per il pubblico.
