L’identité muséographique du Musée d’Art se dessine véritablement à partir de 1984, avec la venue d’un nouveau conservateur du patrimoine, Jean-Roger Soubiran. Ce dernier entreprend une campagne de restauration et d’étude scientifique des œuvres d’art ancien. L’important fonds de peinture provençale est restauré et mis en valeur : un catalogue scientifique est réalisé en 1985, à l’occasion de l’exposition La peinture en Provence.
Un nouvel équilibre est recherché entre les deux domaines des arts ancien et contemporain.
En 1988, le musée célèbre ses 100 ans d’existence, et depuis les années 1990, le Musée d’Art alterne entre expositions temporaires thématiques des collections de peinture ancienne et plus particulièrement de l’école provençale, et expositions d’art contemporain.
The Art Museum’s museographic identity truly began to take shape in 1984, with the arrival of a new heritage curator, Jean-Roger Soubiran. He undertook a campaign to restore and scientifically study the works of ancient art. The extensive Provençal painting collection was restored and enhanced : a scientific catalogue was produced in 1985, on the occasion of the exhibition La peinture en Provence.
A new balance is sought between the two fields, ancient and contemporary arts.
In 1988, the museum celebrated its 100th anniversary, and since the 1990s, the Musée d’Art has alternated between temporary thematic exhibitions of the collections of ancient painting and more particularly of the Provençal school, and exhibitions of contemporary art.
L’identità museografica del Museo d’Arte prende forma concretamente a partire dal 1984 sotto la guida del nuovo curatore del patrimonio. Jean-Roger Soubiran avvia un progetto di restauro e studio scientifico delle opere d’arte antica. Inizia il progetto di restauro e valorizzazione dell’importante fondo di dipinti provenzali e viene realizzato un catalogo scientifico in occasione dell’esposizione La peinture en Provence (La pittura in Provenza) (1985).
Si ricerca un nuovo equilibrio tra arte antica e arte contemporanea.
Nel 1988, il museo celebra il suo 100° anniversario. Dagli anni ’90, ospiterà esposizioni temporanee tematiche, collezioni di pittura antica (in particolare della Scuola provenzale) e mostre di arte contemporanea.
