Grâce au décret impérial de 1852 ordonnant l’agrandissement de la ville, la « Haute Ville » se dote de nouveaux équipements. Des édifices civils et culturels modernes sont bâtis : l’hôpital Chalucet (1854), la gare ferroviaire (1858), le Théâtre-Opéra (1862) le lycée Impérial (1867, devenu le collège actuel Peiresc), l’école Rouvière (construite par Gaudensi Allar).
En 1878, le nouveau maire Henri Dutasta relance le projet de création d’un musée et d’une bibliothèque, et décide de son implantation dans ce nouveau quartier. Les travaux débutent en 1883 et le musée-bibliothèque est inauguré dans son bâtiment actuel en avril 1888.
Thanks to the imperial decree of 1852 ordering the expansion of the city, the « Upper Town« Upper Town » acquires new facilities. Modern civil and cultural buildings were built : the Chalucet Hospital (1854), the railway station (1858), the Théâtre-Opéra (1862), the Imperial High School (1867, now the Peiresc High School), the Rouvière School (built by Gaudensi Allar).
In 1878, the new mayor Henri Dutasta revives the project to create a museum and a library, and chooses to locate it in this new district. Work begins in 1883 and the museum-library is inaugurated in its current building in April 1888.
In seguito al decreto imperiale del 1852 che ordina l’espansione della città, la Città Alta si dota di nuove attrezzature. Vengono costruiti edifici civili e culturali moderni, tra cui l’ospedale Chalucet (1854), la stazione ferroviaria (1858), il Teatro-Opera (1862), il Liceo imperiale (1867, oggi Collegio Peiresc), la scuola Rouvière (opera di Gaudensi Allar).
Nel 1878, il nuovo sindaco Henri Dutasta rilancia il progetto di creazione del Museo-Biblioteca, decidendone la costruzione in questo nuovo quartiere. I lavori iniziano nel 1883. Il Museo-Biblioteca è inaugurato, in quello che è il suo edificio attuale, nell’aprile del 1888.
