Dans la tradition du ready-made ou de l’assemblage d’objets à la manière de Picasso (tête de taureau, 1942), les jeunes artistes britaniques se réapproprient l’objet du quotidien. Bucket, Mop and Lobster est une sculpture composée d’un balai à franges au manche rouge dans un seau en zinc découpé par l’artiste. Bill Woodrow développe dans les années 1980 cette technique de modelage de nouvelles formes à l’intérieur d’un seul et même objet découpé par ses soins. L’humour et l’ironie sont très présents dans cette sculpture, comme l’explique l’artiste : « L’optimisme qui se dégage de mes pièces reflète simplement le plaisir que j’avais à transformer quelque chose qui avait été jeté aux ordures en quelque chose qui avait de la valeur. À lui donner une seconde vie ».

In the tradition of the Ready-made or Picasso-like assemblage of objects (Bull’s Head, 1942), young British artists reappropriate the everyday object. Bucket, Mop and Lobster} is a sculpture composed of a mop with a red handle in a zinc bucket cut out by the artist. In the 1980s, Woodrow developed this technique of modelling new forms within a single object cut out by him. Humour and irony are very present in this sculpture, as the artist explains : « The optimism that emerges from my pieces simply reflects the pleasure I had in transforming something that had been thrown away into something that had value. To give it a second life. »

Nella tradizione del Ready-made o dell’assemblaggio di oggetti alla Picasso (Bull’s Head, 1942), i giovani artisti britannici si riappropriano dell’oggetto quotidiano. Bucket, Mop and Lobster è una scultura composta da un mocio con un manico rosso in un secchio di zinco ritagliato dall’artista. Negli anni ’80, Woodrow sviluppò questa tecnica di modellare nuove forme all’interno di un singolo oggetto ritagliato da lui stesso. L’umorismo e l’ironia sono molto presenti in questa scultura, come spiega l’artista : « L’ottimismo che emerge dai miei pezzi riflette semplicemente il piacere che avevo nel trasformare qualcosa che era stato buttato via in qualcosa che aveva valore. Per dargli una seconda vita. »
