La dernière période artistique de Lucio Fontana est marquée par un retour à la figuration à travers l’emploi de formes simplifiées. De 1964 à 1966, il crée sa série des Teatrini ou petits théatres dont est issue l’œuvre Teatrino concetto Spaziale. Ces mises en scène sont composées d’un premier plan en relief réalisé avec du bois découpé et laqué, figurant un paysage qui se détache du fond à la manière des ombres chinoises. Au second plan, la toile tendue est perforée d’une multitude de trous évoquant un ciel nocturne constellé d’étoiles. Fasciné par la course à la conquête spatiale des années 1960, Lucio Fontana place le spectateur devant un théâtre miniature qui ouvre, comme une fenêtre, sur la représentation de l’univers.

Fontana’s last artistic period was marked by a return to figuration through the use of simplified forms. From 1964 to 1966, he created his series of Teatrini or small theatres from which the work Teatrino concetto Spaziale emerged. These stagings are composed of a foreground in relief made of cut and lacquered wood, depicting a landscape that stands out from the background in the manner of Chinese shadows. In the second plane, the stretched canvas is perforated with a multitude of holes evoking a night sky studded with stars. Fascinated by the race to conquer space in the 1960s, Fontana places the viewer in front of a miniature theatre that opens, like a window, onto the representation of the universe.

L’ultimo periodo artistico di Fontana fu segnato da un ritorno alla figurazione attraverso l’uso di forme semplificate. Dal 1964 al 1966, crea la sua serie di Teatrini o piccoli teatri da cui emerge l’opera Teatrino concetto Spaziale. Queste messe in scena sono composte da un primo piano in rilievo in legno tagliato e laccato, raffigurante un paesaggio che si distingue dallo sfondo alla maniera delle ombre cinesi. Nel secondo piano, la tela tesa è perforata con una moltitudine di fori che evocano un cielo notturno costellato di stelle. Affascinato dalla corsa alla conquista dello spazio negli anni 60, Fontana pone lo spettatore di fronte a un teatro in miniatura che si apre, come una finestra, sulla rappresentazione dell’universo.
